Reporting to the A/NZ country manager, King will be responsible for leading the channel team and defining and implementing VMware's partner strategy in the region.
His goal will be to maximise revenue and market reach.
King joined VMware after a five year career as the general manager, alliances and channels at Oracle.
He has worked in the IT industry for around 20 years and has extensive experience in the areas of computer hardware; information management and business intelligence, with functional experience in sales, marketing, and channel management.
Prior to his role at Oracle, King was the regional director, South Pacific Region, for Crystal Decisions, an information infrastructure company formerly known as Seagate Software.
During his time at Crystal Decisions, King developed a hybrid direct and partner business model that resulted in significant product and services revenue growth.
King has also worked at Digital Equipment Corporation Australia for 11 years where he held various senior management positions including channel manager.
In this role, King managed a team responsible for all aspects of channel sales development, channel capacity, and capability planning and implementation.
King is also a qualified mechanical engineer and also has formal qualifications in business and marketing management, project management and software development.
