Kerry Purcell to lead Melbourne's LAB3 amid expansion plans

Cloud services provider LAB³ in Sydney has appointed Kerry Purcell as its new chief executive.

Purcell, who joined the company's senior leadership team in October 2023, will also take a seat on the LAB³ Board.

With over 20 years of leadership experience in Asia, including roles as Kyndryl's president for ANZ and chairman for Japan, and managing director of IBM Australia and New Zealand, Purcell brings a wealth of expertise to his new position.

His appointment comes as LAB³ sets its sights on expanding into Asian markets and establishing an AI Centre of Excellence.

"LAB³ has long been synonymous with introducing automation, repeatability, and scalability to the delivery of cloud technology and now we are leading the secure adoption of AI by our clients," said Purcell.

Former chief executive and LAB³ co-founder Chris Cook will transition to focus on the company's global software business, Altra, which launched in late 2022.

Cook will remain on the LAB³ Board and continue as chief executive of Altra, which has seen growing demand for its AI and automation-powered cloud migration tools across North America, Europe, and Asia.
