JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks and Myer will get first dibs on reselling Amazon’s new Echo Spot as it arrives on Australian shores later this month.
The new smart speaker comes in a smaller design compared to Amazon's other voice controlled devices, and includes a circular display screen to complement Alexa, the smart assistant that powers Echo devices.
“Echo Spot combines the popular small design of Echo Dot with the added benefit of a display, and the features you love about Alexa into a stylish and compact device,” Alexa Australia and New Zealand country manager Sylvia Ding said.
“See the weather, watch video news briefings, glance at your alarm clock, make video calls, and more—we think customers in Australia will find lots of places for Echo Spot in their homes.”
The speaker is equipped with far-field technology with four microphones, acoustic beam-forming technology and noise cancellation, while also integrating with compatible smart home devices.
The Echo Spot will be available in-store and shipped out to customers on 26 April, with pre-orders starting today on Amazon Australia for $199.
Amazon's Echo range arrived in Australian shores earlier this year, with the Echo, Echo Dot and the Echo Plus. Telstra and Amaysim were also given first dibs alongside JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, and Myer to resell the smart speakers.
