LinkedIn has revealed the top ten most sought after skills in the Australian workforce, with seven of them being tech related.
The study analysed the hiring patterns of 1297 managers in Australia, US, Canada, UK, Netherlands and India starting from May.
The list showed that IT skills were most in demand, accounting for seven of the top ten. Here is the full list:
- Statistical analysis and data mining
- SEO/SEM marketing
- Middleware and integration software
- HR benefits and compensation
- Network ad information security
- Mobile development
- User interface design
- Web architecture and development framework
- Algorithm design
- Corporate law and governance
LinkedIn found that demand for tech skills remained high due to their importance across all industries, not just the tech industry.
"Additionally, the need for design-led products and services has led to growth in user interface design skills which has jumped two points this year," the company said.
A LinkedIn survey also found that soft skills, such as teamwork, ownership and problem-solving, were harder to find compared to hard skills.
LinkedIn Australia managing director Cliff Rosenberg said the skills landscape is changing due to technology disruption.
“Our data strongly suggests that tech skills will continue to be most in demand. However, professionals also need soft skills to succeed as organisations are looking for well-rounded skill sets,” said Rosenberg.
