Queensland colocation provider iseek is expanding the capacity of its Eagle Farm data centre campus in Brisbane.
The expansion marks the company's third data centre; its second within the same precinct. iseek plans for the new centre to be a 6MW purpose-built greenfield facility that is Uptime Institute Tier 4 rated.
iseek is also gearing up to open a new, purpose-built data centre in Townsville, which it announced in partnership with Optus and Schneider Electric in 2017.
The North Queensland Regional Data Centre, set to be a tier-3 facility, will initially host infrastructure from Townsville City Council and James Cook University. Those two anchor tenants collaborated in 2016 to source a provider to build the data centre.
“Continued growth and expansion was necessary to meet the growing demand for data centre services,” iseek founder and chief executive Jason Gomersall said.
“The acceleration of on-premise data centres shifting to purpose built facilities, the rise of cloud computing, data storage growth, innovation in the internet of things (IoT) and immersive technologies all continue to increase demand for data centre capacity in Brisbane.
“Being at the forefront in data centre ingenuity, innovation and technology infrastructure has given us the opportunity to deliver data centre services to cloud providers, network operators and enterprise & government customers,” he said.
