ISC2 QLD chapter achieves official status

The Queensland chapter of the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) has gained official chapter status within the member organisation for cybersecurity professionals.

Held in Brisbane and hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the event featured keynote speaker Edward Farrell and a presentation by Ravi Toor titled 'When Toasters Attack!', which delved into the intricacies of Threat Modelling Cyber Physical Systems.

The ISC2 Queensland Chapter brings together cybersecurity enthusiasts, professionals, and experts to share knowledge, network, and grow professionally.

It offers meetings, workshops, and seminars featuring speakers and experts; networking opportunities; the ability to access resources, certifications, and training; and the opportunity to participate in initiatives and projects that contribute to the local and global cybersecurity community.

The journey to establishing the ISC2 Queensland Chapter began a year ago with foundational members Benjamin Luck, a product security engineer at Boeing and Iftekhar Alam, most recently the 

 

Their efforts, along with the leadership of Steven Haggett, Daniel Johnson, Maruf Ahmed and Sean Finn culminated in the chapter achieving its official status. Other foundational members who contributed to this achievement include Bec Fiedler and Matthew Aston.

ISC2 counts more than 265,000 global certified members among its ranks. Other official chapters within Australia includes a Canberra chapter, a WA chapter based out of Perth and a VIC chapter based out of Melbourne.
