Iron Mountain eyes cloud storage partners

Iron Mountain has created a program that enables partners to integrate their solutions with the vendor's cloud archiving services.

It was the first time it had extended its enterprise archiving platform to outside application developers, the vendor said.

The program offered seamless integration with Iron Mountain's Archive Services Platform through an application programming interface (API), it said.

It also included a developer network, an online community that provided the tools, information, online support and forums necessary to successfully integrate with Iron Mountain's Archive Services Platform.

"The cloud is bursting with companies eager to deliver storage services to business customers. Success will require a lot more than a simple API and a bucket of storage on the remote end of a wire," said Jeff Boles, a senior analyst with the Taneja Group.

"With this in mind, Iron Mountain realises they have a distinct advantage when it comes to serving up storage in the cloud, and we see them steadily marching forward in weaving all of their digital information management and service capabilities together into a rich service that is well aligned to the needs of the business."
