Australian providers Infront, Data#3 and Macquarie Telecom scored trophies at this year's VMware global partner event in San Francisco.

Canberra-based Infront won the Asia-Pacific software-defined data centre partner award for the second consecutive year.

"We made the decision to become a cloud broker a while back – and it's really paid off," Infront senior systems engineer Ben McCulloch told CRN.

Macquarie Telecom celebrated a win in the Asia-Pacific service provider of the year category.

"The award is a testament to our dedication to delivering the best cloud based solutions, outstanding customer service, and the expertise of the team when executing these solutions," said Macquarie Telecom hosting group executive James Mystakidis.

Macquarie Telecom stated that it recently became one of the first partners globally to take VMware's software-defined networking technology, NSX, to market through its "Launch Cloud Extender" product.

"We could see the benefits for network simplification for our customers and created solutions leveraging these technologies. We can now connect customers' on-premise infrastructure to our cloud offerings and multiple Macquarie Telecom data centres in a seamless and secure way, offering them real-time failover across WAN distances for mission-critical applications," said Mystakidis.

The executive also said that Launch Cloud Extender had been created after a 12-month joint venture with VMware to take advantage of SDN and "new Stretched Cluster technology".

The third Australian winner, Data#3, took out the Asia-Pacific marketing partner of the year gong.
