The industry is mourning the death on Saturday of channel veteran Marc Simone from Sydney reseller ASI Solutions.
Police are investigating the circumstances which led Simone (45) to being hit by a 4WD while riding his bike on the M4 at Emu Plains in western Sydney.
The 23 year old driver of the vehicle is understood to have stopped at the scene and called emergency services but Simone could not be revived.
Simone started his career as an early childhood teacher before joining advertising and marketing agency McCorkell and Associates in 1996. He had his foray into the IT industry with a five-year stint at Axon Computers before joining Ingram Micro as a senior account manager, where he worked until 2009. He had been looking after NSW education accounts at ASI Solutions for the past three years.
A keen cyclist and charity worker, Simone had been training for a 4000km April bike ride from Springwood in the Blue Mountains to Darwin to raise money for homeless children on behalf of Mission Australia.
Simone is survived by his wife and two children.
CRN wishes to express its deep condolences to his entire family, friends and colleagues.
