IBM close to agreement with Flightdeck workers

“Our members decided last night to accept how things are going,” Australian Services Union branch secretary Sally McManus told media.

"IBM have met most of the key demands, which has meant that members are happy with the progress and now wish to finalise the deal."

An IBM representative told iTnews that the company was continuing its discussions with employee representatives at the site.

ASU members, who comprise about half of the Flightdeck’s 100 employees, had voted to strike over unequal pay and conditions among members of the critical support group.

IBM’s first proposal to the workers was rejected two weeks ago. The current proposal represents the result of weeks of negotiations between the union and the tech company.

Members gave a timeframe of two weeks to finalise the deal.
