Hoppe said it was an exciting time to be joining the company because in 2008 the Australian business experienced 240 percent sales growth on the previous year.
"This is a fantastic result, especially during a period of economic uncertainty," he said.
"Huawei will be looking to build on this success and continue to grow the company as a strong local entity over the next two to three years."
Prior to this position Hoppe was CFO for Nortel's Asia Pacific operations.
During his time with Nortel, he worked in Canada and the US and held senior finance positions for Nortel in Australia, Japan and China.
He joined Huawei in May 2009.
At the beginning of 2009, Huawei Australia also appointed Peter Rossi as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Rossi previously worked at Telstra, Lucent and Alcatel.
Huawei Australia serves as the regional hub for the South Pacific Region, meaning both Hoppe and Rossi's roles extend to New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
