HTC seeing profits surge from Android

Amidst surging sales of its Android handsets mobile handset vendor HTC is reporting stronger than expected financial gains.

The company said in its monthly financial report that quarterly revenues were on pace to jump by some 58.45 percent over the same period in 2009. In the month of June, the company reported a 66.69 percent jump over 2009.

Both the monthly and quarterly numbers beat out the company's own revenue estimates.

The financial boost comes in large part from HTC's Android business. The company has been listed among the top purveyors of Android handsets, while its most recent releases have smashed carrier sales records.

The platform has also brought HTC legal attention of a less favourable nature.

The company is currently locked in a legal battle with Apple and its iPhone platform. Both companies claim the other has violated numerous patents over the hardware and software design on their respective smartphone lines.
