HTC is reportedly working a new high-end Windows Phone 8 handset to go on sale in time for Christmas.
The new phone will resemble the HTC One and carry the upcoming "GDR3" update for Windows Phone 8, according to Neowin, meaning the OS will support Qualcomm chips, 1080p displays and screens of 5in or larger.
That means the new phone could boast a bigger display than the HTC One's current 4.7in screen.
A source told Neowin the new Windows device will have a mostly metal body, Beats Audio and may feature HTC’s UltraPixel camera technology. The phone is expected to be announced this autumn.
HTC was already thought to be working on a high-end Windows Phone 8 device with a large screen, but reportedly cancelled its plans on discovering rival Android phones would have higher resolution displays.
Windows Phone 8 currently supports resolutions up to 1,280 x 720 and 1,280 x 768. The GDR3 update, expected before the end of the year, is expected to improve that.
