HP says its LeftHand P4000 SAN has high margins for resellers

The solution, which follows HP's October 2008 acquisition of LeftHand Networks, is targeted at small to midsize customers that require a virtual server SAN deployment for multi-site and remote locations.

Chambers said it is ideal for customers that deploy or who want to deploy server virtualisation, which gives resellers a unique product in the marketplace.

"Resellers get two main benefits including a differentiated product unique in the marketplace, because of the architecture that it offers, and high margins," he said.

"Most storage systems are scale up architectures designed to conserve storage. This is a scale out architecture that mirrors the scale out nature of a server through virtualisation.

"High margins are available as the product is unique in generating recurring revenue stream, customers can buy what they need today and add to it over time."

The HP global launch of the P4000 kicks off with the Australian launch in Sydney and Melbourne this week.

"It is exciting how our technology can play a part in the broader portfolio that HP has to offer," added Chambers.

"LeftHand fitted a niche slot and the outcome of that is a foundation technology HP can use and leverage in the future."

HP LeftHand P4000 SAN solutions are available through HP and channel partners including Avnet Solutions, Dicker Data, Ingram Micro Australia, and Lynx Technologies.

It has also introduced a channel registration program that allows HP partners to grow their businesses and better support customers.

The program is available through HP's Value Special Pricing offered to partners who have a specific sales opportunity that includes HP LeftHand solutions.

Promotional pricing starts from $24,990. The offer ends 31st July 2009.

"VMware virtualisation provides immediate relief to customers needing to control IT costs while meeting demand for increased business agility," said Parag Patel, vice president, Alliances, VMware.

"By combining the VMware platform with either the HP LeftHand P4000 SAN or VSA, we're delivering customers a solution that enables increased storage requirements and scalability with no downtime - it's an ideal combination for customers."
