HP manager stabbed in Melbourne store

The Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a stabbing in the CBD's HP Experience Centre yesterday morning.

HP Experience Centre manager Ronald Maskell, 35, was inside the Melbourne store early Wednesday morning when he was attacked by an unknown man who he found "inside the store, rummaging through a bag", according to police.

Maskell was stabbed in the shoulder and was rushed to the hospital with "non life threatening injuries".

A HP Inc spokesperson told Fairfax that Maskell had received medical attention and was in good spirits after the attack.

“We are working closely with the police investigation. While we are not aware of security reports, the wellbeing of staff is a primary concern and we are looking into the situation."

The assailant has been described as aged in his late 20s, about 180cm tall and a tan complexion. At the time of the incident he was wearing a blue '80s style sports jacket, blue jeans and white runners.

The Experience Centre is located in the Collins Street shopping centre in the Melbourne CBD. HP uses the centre to display its consumer and enterprise products.

Maskell was hired to manage the centre when it opened in March last year. He remains in a stable condition, according to reports.
