HP has leaped to the number ne position in Asia Pacific (inc. Japan), with its x86 blade server factory revenues and units shipped in the first quarter of 2007, says analysts.

According to IDC Asia/Pacific Quarterly Enterprise Server Tracker, Q1 2007, May HP took the leading position in the x86 blade server market in the first quarter of 2007 capturing 35.7 percent factory revenue share and 40.4 percent unit shipment share.

The company registered a 103.6 percent year-on-year growth in unit shipments and garnered more than 12 percentage points lead over its closest competitor in Q1 2007 as compared to the year-ago periods.
Globally, HP also consolidated its leadership position in worldwide blade server factory revenue and units shipped in the first quarter of 2007(1).
Asia Pacific customers across diverse industry segments –¬ particularly the communications, media and entertainment sector – have contributed to this growth.

Key countries where HP attained market share leadership in the x86 server segment in Q1 2007 in units share includes India with 71 percent, China (PRC) with 51 percent, ASEAN with 61.9 percent and ANZ with 52.9 percent.

HP saw a substantial growth in HP BladeSystems in India and secured 50.8 points lead over its nearest competitor in Q1, 2007. In the same quarter (Q1, 2007), HP took 34.9 points lead over its nearest competitor in the ASEAN region.
