The number of broad based distribution partners for HP's Personal Systems Group products has been reduced from three to two, leaving Dicker Data and Ingram Micro. Synnex will remain as a specialist mobility distributor.
Tony Bill, vice president and general manager of the Personal Systems Group for HP South Pacific, said: "Over the last several months, HP and Cellnet have been working together on our respective company strategies moving in to 2008. We have both agreed that it is in our mutual best interests that we end the distribution agreement between HP and Cellnet effective December 1, 2007.”
Stephen Harrison, managing director of Cellnet, told CRN: “It is a mutual agreement and was a non-performance issue from both sides.
“Moving forward with our ’08 strategy we will need to get focused on our vendor line up and that doesn’t include HP. We don’t foresee any other major vendor cuts.”
The HP and Cellnet relationship will officially conclude in December 2007. HP claimed it will continue to work closely during that time to "manage customer and reseller expectations".
