HP and Avaya ink unified communications deal

HP and Avaya are planning to combine their respective products in a unified communications platform.

The two firms have agreed on a three year deal in which HP will offer companies bundled unified communications packages comprised of both HP and Avaya products.

The combined offerings will bundle hardware and software from Avaya with HP's own unified communications consulting and management services.

Through the partnership, the two sides hope to that the combined offering will deliver a stronger platform from the hardware level to support and services by complimenting each company's strengths.

"Organisations face constant change and the decisions they make must be flexible enough to meet future needs, such as unification of real-time communication with Web 2.0 and social media applications," said HP technology services senior vice president and general manager Gary M. Budzinski.

"With HP and Avaya, clients can increase the agility of their existing communication architectures and realise the aspiration of unified communications for multivendor interoperability and ultimately save organisational costs."
