French cloud infrastructure provider OVH has brought its "Public Cloud" to Australia and Singapore.
"Public Cloud" is not a generic term for OVH - it's a product that offers what others would call infrastructure-as-a-service. OVH bills the services as offering "On-demand cloud servers for all your web projects" an says it's based on OpenStack.
The new offering runs in a Sydney Equinix data centre in Sydney and a Telstra data centre in Singapore.
“Delivering a fast and reliable service to our customers is paramount to everything we do at OVH,” OVH chief executive Michel Paulin said.
“By adding public cloud regions in APAC, we commit to develop in this region of the world
and aim to support the local cloud users’ growth.”
Paulin added that the expansion was aligned with its “multi-local” strategy by bringing its service closer to local-end users.
OVH launched in Australia in 2016 and opened an office in Melbourne a year later.
“Since opening our APAC HQ in Melbourne in 2017, we’ve seen a strong demand for the fast, flexible and transparent cloud infrastructures that we offer local customers,” OVH Asia-Pacific director Lionel Legros said.
