Hong Kong net security suits People

By on

Melbourne-based telecommunications provider People Telecom has signed a deal with Network Box to resell the latter's Internet threat prevention devices.

Through the deal, Network Box Internet Threat Prevention System hardware and software will be made available to People Telecom's SMB customers on a monthly rental basis. The package includes anti-virus, anti-spam, secure encrypted VPN, web content filtering, firewall and business rules and reporting software. Updates would be available 15 times a day, the company claimed.

Ryan O'Hare, CEO at People Telecom, said the managed security product was part of the three-year-old company's strategy to provide best-of-breed packages to Australian businesses. Network Box complemented the Melbourne-based company's broadband portfolios from Swiftel and Request Broadband, he said.

People Telecom also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with satellite broadband provider Multiemedia to resell its NewSat two-way satellite broadband service, including associated Microsoft applications.

People Telecom is a privately-owned Sydney company worth around $100 million in revenue. The reseller claims to have about 16,000 customers of its broadband, VPN and telecommunications products and services. The company targets large enterprises as well as SMBs.

Network Box is a Hong Kong-based vendor of managed security services. It claims to have customers in about 30 nations.
