Hitachi Data Systems hires former HPE general manager Paul Shaw

Hitachi Data Systems has appointed former HPE manager Paul Shaw as its new sales director for the northern region.

Shaw joined HP in 2004 as a senior solutions architect and was appointed to the role of general manager of storage in 2014, where he was responsible for sales, pre-sales, marketing product management and channel operations for the business unit.

Shaw's role was made redundant last year as part of HPE's global restructure, which saw the Australian server, storage and network business units combined into one group called the data centre and hybrid cloud group.

In his new role, Shaw will focus on growing the data storage vendor's enterprise IT solutions business and educate partners on IoT opportunities.

HDS Australian vice president and general manager Nathan McGregor said Shaw's strength as a transformational sales leader would help enterprise customers through the digital transformation process.

"With the swiftness of the market changes, CIOs are looking for trusted advisors who do not only understand the technology but are also in a position to guide them through the structural and organisational challenges that mark the road to true digital success," he said.

Shaw cited research by TechResearch Asia, which claims that 40 percent of digital projects in Australia delivered either mixed results or were "too difficult to measure or delivered no competitive advantage".

"I’m looking forward to working with industry leaders on pathways to deliver tangible business outcomes with a modern application infrastructure leveraging the value, performance and innovation of HDS technologies and services," Shaw said.
