Heywood returns to Westcon

Westcon Group has appointed Tony Heywood to a newly created position of data centre practice head.

The appointment is in line with Westcon's data centre focus which "is a key component of Westcon's growth strategy", according to a Westcon press release.

Heywood returned to Westcon after three years working with two companies, nSynergy and more recently Sydney-based KLIKON Solutions.

"As a Cisco and EMC distributor my primary responsibility to the vendor is to build the market and educate the reseller independently from the vendor," Heywood told CRN.

Previously, Heywood was the head of Westcon's Cisco practice.

Leigh Howard, managing director for Weston Group Australia, described Heywood as a rare commodity in Australia

"Tony has more than 22 years experience in the IT industry," Howard said.

Heywood replaces Neville James, who was the general manager of Westcon's Cisco business.
