Hewlett Packard appoints EMC's Chris Trevitt as channel manager

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has hired former EMC general manager of channel sales Chris Trevitt as the new director for the indirect business.

He replaces HPE's previous channel manager Kaaren Lewis, who left in February after two years. She was replaced in the interim by SMB country manager Nicholas Lambrou, who will now return to his executive position.

Trevitt left EMC in January after 11 years with the company. He was replaced by former EMC general manager of telecommunications and service providers Mark Fioretto and director of federal public sector Brett Harris. Fioretto manages the channel business for service providers, systems integrators and alliances, and Harris manages the mid-market, inside sales and distribution.

During his two-year stint as EMC general manager, Trevitt helped bring Avnet on board to join Ingram Micro as a local distributor, knocking out Westcon in the process.

Prior to joining EMC, Trevitt worked for IBM for seven years, most recently as an account manager.

Trevitt joins a cohort of former IBMers at the upper echelons of HPE Australia. Vice-president Alan Hyde worked at IBM Australia before going on to roles at PeopleSoft, SAP and NEC Australia. Other HPE execs to have been at Big Blue through the turn of the century, according to their LinkedIn profiles, include Marina Fronek, HPE director commercial and public sector; Chris Weber, GM of technology services; and Raj Thakur, VP & GM of hybrid IT.

HP and IBM have followed similar trajectories over recent years, with both companies spinning out their devices and enterprise hardware business – IBM by selling the subsidiaries to Lenovo and HP by separating into HP Inc and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
