Software vendor Atlassian has been named as the best startup in the country in a list of top 50 technology companies in Australia and New Zealand.
The rankings were revealed in the first-ever 2016 Tech Pioneers report, authored by venture capital firm H2 Ventures and specialist lending provider Investec.
Sydney-headquartered Atlassian listed on the US stock exchange in December last year with a US$8 billion valuation and has become one of Australia’s biggest success stories.
New Zealand-based online bookkeeping and accounting software firm Xero was No. 2, and Melbourne-based digital assets company Envato was No. 3.
Companies were judged on the total capital raised, rate of capital raising, geographic and sector diversity, consumer and marketplace traction and an “X-factor” based on innovation.
