The awaited LG Optimus 2X smartphone will be sold through Harvey Norman exclusively from this month for $649.
It has a two-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1080p HD video, eight megapixel camera, microSD card slot and 8GB of storage.
But it doesn't have the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system but competing handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S II were $899.
“The LG Optimus 2X’s enhanced speed, advanced graphics and high-end features such as
content mirroring through an HDMI interface are the kind of high-end features that appeal to
Australian consumers looking for the very best in smartphone technology,” said Nathan Dunn,
General Manager of LG Mobile Communications.
Harvey Norman general manager for computers and communications, Ben McIntosh saidthe agreement was part of a strategy that would incorporate more such products in the future.
The handset's availability will be expanded to other retail channels through open distribution.
