Harris Farm signs with IMC Communications for disaster recovery
IT services provider IMC Communications has deployed the disaster recovery (DR) facility for the retailer claiming that the recovery time objective in the future for critical applications will be under six hours.

Angus Harris, chief financial officer at Harris Farm, warned any businesses without DR facilities to be aware of the consequences should the unexpected strike. “Be fully prepared and ready to deal with the situation because it happens without warning and all of a sudden you wake up in the middle of a nightmare.”

The 13 March fire swept through the Harris Farm IT centre at its warehouse headquarters at Sydney’s Paddy’s Markets, Flemington and destroyed everything in its path.

IMC Communications established a temporary IT hub which was operational within hours, then set about resuming operations longer term and establishing a DR and replication strategy.

Andrew Gifford, technology services director at IMC Communications said: “We are proud that we ensured Harris Farm continued effective operations immediately after the fire. Our team was driven by the objective of minimising damage to both financial performance and brand equity that could potentially result in negative, long-term business ramifications.”
