Hackers to plead guilty to TJX hacking

Accused hacker Albert Gonzalez has agreed to plead guilty to masterminding the attack on the credit card data held by TJX and others.

Like his co-defendent Gonzalex agreed not to contest the 19 charges in exchange for a 15-25 year sentence the loss of at least $1.65 million in cash, as well as assets including three Rolex watches and a Tiffany diamond ring.

He is still facing additional criminal charges for what the US Department of Justice is calling the largest data heist in the world. If found guilty in that case he faces another 35 years in prison.

Gonzalez, who previously worked as a government informant, is alleged to have lead a criminal gang that sort to harvest credit card numbers and used them in millions of fraudulent transactions. He is currently in jail in New York awaiting his latest trial.
