At a media event in Sydney, Karim Temsamani, general manager A/NZ, Google Inc said the alliance would enable Optus users to easily search the Internet directly from their log-in page. He claimed there were additional benefits including the display of relevant text-based advertisements using Google’s AdSense program on the OptusZoo mobile and myZOO ISP portal, as well as access to YouTube through Optus ZOO.
“This represents an Australian first in dual-platform delivery of Google searches,” said Temsamani. “This is a strategic announcement for Google Australia, as it adds one of the country’s leading ISPs to Google’s growing network.”
Temsamani claimed the relationship will help further extend the reach of Google services to the mobile phone.
Warren Hardy, managing director, Optus Consumer commented that the alliance gives our customers a truly converged experience with the added benefit of familiarity across both fixed and mobile platforms,” he said.
