Google tight-lipped on plans for Agnilux

Google has bought a California-based start-up called Agnilux, but the details about the acquisition could not be more mysterious or vague.

Google did not publically announce the acquisition, and little is known about what Agnilux does.

"We can confirm the acquisition of Agnilux," a Google spokeswoman told V3.co.uk. "We are providing no additional comment."

Meanwhile, the Agnilux web site appears to be down.

Information gleaned from LinkedIn reveals that Agnilux co-founder Mark Hayter is a former director at Apple, having worked as a hardware and system architect at PA Semi, the semiconductor company acquired by Apple in 2008.

A report in The New York Times in February said that Agnilux is making "some kind of server".

Google will not disclose what it intends to do with the start-up, but some commentators are already speculating that the web giant is planning to launch its own PC.
