Fujitsu has upgraded Tasmanian electricity provider and telco TasNetworks’ microwave radio network, deploying 18 of its FRX-3 microwave radio links.
Fujitsu said that the upgrade brought a five-fold increase in throughput and improved visibility of service levels, which will help to resolve future issues.
“Our partnership with Fujitsu facilitated innovation,” TasNetworks senior telecommunications engineer Robert Clerk.
“Their solutions-focused attitude helped in bringing our ideas into completion and demonstrated why opportunities to innovate should continue to be explored at every step of a project’s life cycle.”
Fujitsu was awarded a five-year support contract to reduce risk and ensure reliability as part of the deal.
Fujitsu was chosen as part of a tender process after determining the ten-year-old radio backbone network was not suitable for TasNetworks’ telco network.
