NEC Australia wants to attract SMBs to deploy Voice over IP across their business, with a free IP telephony assessment.
The review will be conducted by both NEC personnel as well as NEC’s authorised channel partners in each state. From this program, NEC’s channel partners will have the opportunity to increase their revenues in the VoIP space by up-selling and cross-selling NEC telephony products.
Alex Gatiragas, manager of product development at NEC Australia said the review will enable SMBs to certify their network for VoIP readiness and eliminate their network as the source of any problems, saving the company time, support issues and money.
“By promoting our capability and knowledge in VoIP for the SMB market, we expect many customers to engage with us and our channel partners for their VoIP roll-out needs,” he said. “This gives our channel partners another excellent opportunity to engage their customers and prospects in dialogue.”
Gatiragas said NEC's IP Telephony Readiness Assessment was necessary because SMBs are reluctant to even take the first step as it not only requires a financial investment but can also create potential headaches when switching from their existing voice and data office network to a new system.
“For an SMB owner, there are just too many options they have to consider when changing their network such as selecting what system to buy and the complexities involved in implementing a VoIP network within the business,” he said.
He believes these companies are waiting for the capital costs involved in VoIP to be agreed, as one reason the take up of the technology has been slow.
“One of the other main reasons is that many small and medium sized businesses, and remember this is the vast majority of Australian businesses, are waiting for the big boys to lead the way and prove the ROI. In risk averse businesses it is seen as a safer way to allow others to trail blaze and iron out any perceived issues,” he said.
According to Gatiragas by offering this free review, we aim to simplify the process for organisations and increase VoIP adoption among SMBs.
“There are many advantages for a business to implement a VoIP network. In addition to cheaper phone calls, VoIP’s advanced communications features, functionality and scalability allow an organisation to experience significant productivity gains,” he said.
The technology used by NEC to deliver the IP telephony readiness assessment is presently being deployed by some of Australia’s largest organisations such as Toyota and the Victorian Government, to manage the day-today performance of their VoIP networks.
