Resellers in both the security and networking market will get a boost with unified threat management Fortinet, combining forces with ProCurve Networking by HP to enable secure networks for global customers.
The ProCurve Alliance was designed to offer customers security, mobility and convergence solutions that have been tested and qualified for interoperability with ProCurve offerings.
Richard Stiennon, worldwide chief marketing officer for Fortinet said the agreement between Fortinet and HP is a joint marketing alliance. The firms' teams worldwide will work together with the combined solutions.
“Through this alliance, Fortinet will extend its award-winning FortiGate multi-threat security platform to the ProCurve network environment, playing a role in ProCurve’s ProActive Defense strategy to proactively secure networks against internal and external threats,” he said.
Stiennon believes that security and networking are so connected it only makes sense to combine the two.
“It’s an inevitable trend based on the changing of threats where access control and packet investigating is required. Right now security is a leading requirement in a lot of network deals,” he said.
He believes the alliance will help the channel as Fortinet is already speaking with HP channel partners.
“One of the reasons we got involved with ProCurve was that we already were working with HP,” he said.
