Security distributor Firewall Systems will use its newly opened New Zealand operation as a “test bed” to launch operations across Asia.
The company recently hired former Computer Associates’ enterprise sales executive Trevor Holland to run its subsidiary across the Tasman.
Speaking to CRN, Nick Verykios, marketing director at Firewall Systems, said the NZ office “was going to be the design for the [business] model to take us through to Asia.”
The distributor had plans to setup through Asia in countries where it made economic sense to setup without the requirement to acquire another organisation.
Firewall has engaged third-party “alliance” partners in New Zealand to deliver professional services to resellers there, until the distributor finds technical engineers over the next few months. Verykios said Firewall would probably stop using third-parties once these engineers were found.
Firewall is carrying a limited vendor portfolio in New Zealand which includes Aruba, F5 Networks, Crossbeam Systems, Network Box, Bluecoat, the recently signed Fortinet and TippingPoint.
