FireEye has announced the promotion of Richard Metcalfe to the role of regional director for Australia.
Metcalfe is replacing Phil Vasic, who has also been promoted and is now senior director for global service providers and alliances for Asia-Pacific and Japan.
Both Metcalfe and Vasic will continue to be based in Sydney.
Metcalfe has been with FireEye since 2014, when he joined as an account director. Two years later he was promoted to sales manager, in his final role before today's announcement.
"From the day he came aboard more than two years ago, Rich has performed with commitment and focus as he’s helped many of Australia’s largest organisations strengthen their defences against cyber-attacks. He has an impeccable track record and the team is in good hands," said Vasic.
Metcalfe started his technology career in 2002 for Softcat, before moving to Dimension Data in 2007, where ended up as national manager for security. He then started at F5 Networks in 2011 for his last port of call before FireEye.
Vasic joined FireEye in 2013 as country manager for Australia and New Zealand. He has held several senior roles in his career, working for HP, Axient, Websense, Meru Networks and Clearswift.
"Phil has led FireEye to outstanding growth in Australia and New Zealand over the past three and a half years. We've come a long way as a company and invested heavily in the region under his leadership," said Metcalfe.
In May, FireEye had also promoted Sean Kopelke to channel director.
Last year, FireEye and its Mandiant services division moved into an expanded facility in Sydney, where its advanced threat response centre is located.
