FireEye appoints Chris Barton to lead ANZ channel

FireEye's Chris Barton has been selected to lead the security vendor's channel business in Australia and New Zealand.

Barton established FireEye's local channel when he joined the company in 2013 as channel manager for Australia and New Zealand. He has since held a number of strategic alliance roles in FireEye's global service provider business, and was most recently senior manager of strategic alliances for APJ.

Barton has also been in charge of the Australian and New Zealand channel following the departures of head of channels Lani Edwards in August 2016 and director of channel and commercial sales Sean Kopelke in November 2016.

Barton said he was looking forward to resuming his focus on the Australian and New Zealand channel.

“FireEye partners are in a unique position to use our intelligence, experience and expertise from the front lines to develop differentiated offerings that provide the types of advanced cyber products and services our customers are demanding,” Barton said.

“There’s a significant opportunity for our partners to take FireEye solutions to new market segments in new ways. FireEye has recently launched new partnering and pricing programs, combined with mid-market focused enterprise security bundles, to make it easier for our partners to supply and support security solutions for their mid-market customers.”

FireEye also has a new country manager for Australia as of April, with former Veritas managing director Louis Tague joining the security vendor to replace Richard Metcalfe who joined Splunk.

A month after Teague joined, FireEye announced its intention to grow its presence in the midmarket through cloud-based versions of its network, email and endpoint security products.
