NSW government has signalled a move away from traditional tendering, hosting a new 'speed dating' event between suppliers and public sector buyers.
The Engaging on Postmodern Enterprise Resource Planning event in Sydney saw 110 technology suppliers given two minutes each to pitch to 85 buyers from 30 state government departments.
Some of the big channel names to participate on 29 April were Artis Group, Oakton, Presence of IT, ASG, CSC Australia, Dataweave, AC3, Telstra, UXC, Fujitsu Australia, NEC IT Solutions Australia and NTT Communication ICT Solutions.
Multinational outsourcers and consulting houses that pitched included PwC, Accenture, Capgemini, HCL, Infosys, Tata, Deloitte Touche Tomhmatsu and Infor.
Oracle, IBM Australia, Concur, SAP Australia and Hewlett-Packard were a sample of the vendors seen at the event.

Pitches revolved around HR, eRecruitment, finance and expenses management systems. Gartner research director Denise Ganly said that the term 'postmodern ERP' referred to "the deconstruction of monolithic ERP suites into loosely coupled applications and components".
Government Services acting deputy secretary Shaun Smith said public agencies wanted to shift away from "traditional, often cumbersome, tendering processes" and head to "a focus on collaboration", starting with events such as speed dating.
"An outcomes-based approach enables huge savings across many goods and services and cuts costs to New South Wales," he said. "As the market flips to the cloud, government is aware of the need to be agile when purchasing ERP and is moving towards better-value cloud-deployed services."
