Exclusive: Optima products auctioned off on GraysOnline
According to GraysOnline, the site was under instruction from David Mansfield and Richard Porter of Moore Stephens as joint liquidators – to auction off Optima’s office computer and IT stock.

Trent McMillen, manager of corporate recovery at Moore Stephens told CRN that the auction occurred in three lots and everything in the whitebox builder’s Homebush office was auctioned off, bar products sent back for repairs.

“We chose Grays because of its database and the ability for the site to hold an auction of that size,” he said.

“The sale occurred in three lots. The last of auction - computer components - ended on the 8th October.”

“We will have the results of the net proceeds in around three weeks and we will inform creditors of the net worth then.”

According to McMillen there still hasn’t been any interest in the purchase of Optima and that was the reason for the auction.

However the administrator is still continuing to trade Optima’s retail arm, Digital City.

“It’s still continuing to trade. I know the Wynyard store is still trading,” said McMillen.

“We are working out an exit strategy, whether that includes a closing down sale and then the selling off of products online is yet to be determined.”

According to GraysOnline, the auctions had a 13.5 percent buyers’ premium and a 10 percent GST invoice, on top of the sales price.

The site states the products auctioned off were; two Sharp Aquos106 CM and 94CM LCD TV’S; Optima 127 CM plasma display screen; three server PCs; 70 notebooks with various configurations;

40 desktops, various configurations; 260 15 inch, 17 inch, 19 inch and 22 inch LCD flat screen monitors; 40 17 inch CRT monitors;

home entertainment speaker systems; XBOX 360 game controllers; digital photo frames; Bluetooth headset; ATI Radeon graphic cards; LCD projector; Flash drives; memory sticks;

LCD monitor; video and sound card; RAM chips; DVD rewriters; recordable blank CD’s; computer speakers; and much more.
