France-headquartered distributor BigTec has been appointed as a Juniper Networks distributor in Australia.
Juniper Networks vice president for Australia and New Zealand Ralph Candiloro said the vendor was seeking a "specialist distributor with a solid reputation in the channel and given the existing Juniper relationship with the Exclusive Group across other markets, the decision was easy".
BigTec is the data centre transformation unit of Exclusive Group, which also owns Exclusive Networks, Exclusive Capital and ITEC. BigTec launched its Australian operation in the first half of September and is based in Sydney, with a team in Melbourne as well.
The new agreement should not affect the relationship between the vendor and its other two distributors in the country, Westcon and Avnet, according to Juniper.
"The BigTec partnership allows Juniper access to a broader ecosystem that serves as a supplementary route to market. The partnership also addresses the local appetite for hybrid, software-defined cloud offerings with organisations demanding the transformation of their traditionally physical data centres to web-scale software defined data centres," a Juniper spokesperson said.
