Empired lures ASG exec to COO role

IT services firm Empired has appointed former ASG national sales manager Rob McCready as its new chief operating officer.

McCready's LinkedIn profile confirms that he had left ASG Group after over five years with the company.

Empired managing director Russell Baskerville told CRN that McCready's appointment is "a big win" for the firm.

"He [McCready] ran basically all operations at ASG," Baskerville said.

"On the back of Rob joining there's a number of senior sales guys who go after ... very large deals that are looking to join Empired as well.

"We're expecting that we should have significant success in the [IT] managed services space over the coming couple of years."

Baskerville said that McCready had joined Empired "full of energy" and ready to "help drive Empired in a similar direction" to ASG, which has prospered in recent years.

Empired this week won a lucrative two-year, $14 million contract extension with Main Roads Western Australia.

"Our managed services business is growing and I think what this [contract extension with Main Roads] - $7 million a year in core services - demonstrates [is] that Empired's got the capacity to start to take on some much larger deals," Baskerville said.

"On an annualised basis over five years, [Main Roads] is a $35 million contract and that's very much now the size of deals we are chasing."
