EMC and Dell extend OEM storage agreement to 2013
The vendors originally partnered in October 2001 to help customers store, manage and protect their information through networked storage.

In the extended partnership, a new lineup of Dell | EMC CX4 networked storage systems. The Celerra NX4, was introduced by the storage vendor in August was expected to join the Dell storage portfolio in early 2009.

The Celerra NX4 is a unified storage solution that helps customers consolidate NAS, iSCSI and Fibre Channel technologies on one platform.

Justin Boyd, enterprise head at Dell A/NZ said the agreement was extended because for the past couple of years because the storage product was a great option for customers.

“”Basically the Dell/EMC portfolio of products can be for organisations with around 50 seats to large global organisations,” he said.

David Henderson (pictured), general manager partner and alliances at EMC A/NZ told CRN the continuing agreement was a demonstration of its ongoing commitment to channel partners.

“"This is a signal to the partner community that EMC aims to partner aggressively as a part of its go to market strategy and that all partners who align themselves with EMC can expect this kind of support," he claimed.

"With the Dell and EMC alliance, we expect to increase our market share in A/NZ. This means that we expect that EMC partners will grow with us - it's a great opportunity."

According to Henderson, the current economic situation will cause a ripple effect which will see a lot more vendors aligning together.

“There will be a lot of opportunity out in the marketplace for all channel partners, including resellers,” he said.

“There’ll be a need to look at relationships driven by product strategy and market need.”
