Sage software distributor Elev8 has signed up to resell document management applications from UK software vendor Draycir.
Robert Ball, managing director at Draycir, said the UK developer already had "a small number" of Australia-based users but believed an opportunity existed to sell into "many thousands" of corporate sites via Elev8.
"Elev8 Australia has over 1,000 corporate sites and now has many thousands of corporate sites it can attack with Draycir's software," Ball said.
Australian customers had previously been buying Draycir product via the Sage Australia distribution channel. But "no serious competition" for its products yet existed here, he said.
"The only real competition in the Australian marketplace is lack of awareness of the benefits of the product, which will be addressed over time. Hence the potential is great," Ball said.
Draycir would support Elev8 with webinars, online support files, interactive demos, ROI calculators and marketing materials. It would also offer telephone support as required, he said.
The vendor's document management software, Spindle Professional, helped users create business stationery. Users could print directly on to cheaper, plain paper stock and still achieve a highly professional look, feel, and level of corporate branding, Draycir claimed.
The software -- which was compatible with various accounting, CRM and other business applications -- also let users despatch documents by email and fax and archive them digitally, potentially saving businesses a lot of time and money, the vendor said.
"Draycir's technology does exactly what it is designed to do, and more. Resellers and end users often comment that they are surprised that a software package matches up exactly to what is claimed," Ball said.
"Australia is a largely untapped market in terms of document management software."
The Elev8 deal built on Draycir's UK channel successes and a marketing tie-up with Sage UK, he said.
John Marshall, chief executive at Elev8, said Spindle Professional would appeal to the distributor's existing Sage channel.
"Draycir is historically strong in the Sage channel and, on that basis, we were prepared to look at a demo of Spindle Professional," he said in a statement.
Marshall claimed he had "yet to see anything that came close" to Spindle Professional's functionality, ease of use and value for money.
Elev8 Australia was formerly Sage Distribution Australia. It had exclusive distribution rights to Sage products in Australia for around a decade, he said.
