DXC Technology has delivered the Minerals and Energy Regulation System (MERS) for South Australia's Department for Energy and Mining (DEM), replacing legacy systems and manual processes with an integrated digital regulatory platform.
Built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure, MERS brings together licensing, assessments, compliance, royalties, financial management and reporting in a single platform.
The platform gives industry participants, stakeholders and other government agencies a consolidated way to interact with the department, and is designed to scale for future regulatory needs, including what DEM said would be AI-enabled services.
"MERS provides the industry with a more transparent, efficient and user-friendly experience, helping existing and prospective explorers make informed decisions about investing in our State," said Paul De Ionno, DEM's executive director, regulation and compliance.
"As the State continues to unlock opportunities in copper, critical minerals and magnetite iron ore, MERS provides the digital foundation to support growth, innovation and future AI-enabled regulatory services."
DXC is a Microsoft Frontier Partner and said it serves more than 280 public sector and government clients across 25 countries.
