DTA's digital marketplace reaches $500m milestone

The Digital Transformation Agency has awarded more than $500 million in digital services contracts since its inception.

The agency also revealed that small-to-medium businesses, some of which were working with the government for the first time, took a larger share of the pie with more than $300 million.

Launched in August 2016, the digital marketplace is a DTA initiative that aims to improve procurement practices across government departments by increasing competition and improving transparency.

The marketplace now boasts more than 1800 buyers from some 290 government agencies, enterprises and universities. It also hosts some 1430 sellers on the platform.

The last time the DTA released statistics was in October 2018, detailing how it was progressing on providing more opportunities for small and medium business. The marketplace at the time awarded $134 million in contracts, 74 percent of which were handed to 171 SMEs.
