Distribution Central chairman wins Executive of the Year
Scott Frew with his award

Distribution Central's executive chairperson, Scott Frew, has won the IT and Telecommunications Executive of the Year honour at the 2014 Executive of the Year Awards.

"We're very proud of Scott’s achievement and our nominations at this year's Executive of the Year Awards," said Nick Verykios, managing director at Distribution Central. "But more so we’re proud of DC’s achievements in the past 10 years and also excited about DC’s future as we enter a new phase in contemporary distribution."

Verykios himself won the IT Executive of the Year gong at last year's ceremony, held annually by CEO Magazine. This year he was nominated in the managing director category.

The award comes after Distribution Central increased revenues by more than $20 million in the 2014 financial year to hit the $275 million mark. The distie reported that ten years ago, for the 2004 financial year, it racked up just $1.6 million in revenue.

Verykios told CRN in October that the success of DC has led to approaches for non-IT business. "We’re getting a lot of companies coming to us and saying, ‘Why just IT, why not do what you’re doing in medical or the finance sector? A lot of your methodologies apply to other industries.’”

Frew is also the president and CEO of iasset.com, an asset renewals system that was named on the CRN US emerging vendors honour roll both this year and last.
