Distie Providence claims Australian first for recovery tool
Atul Thapar from Providence

Specialist distributor Providence Solutions Australia is bringing a tool to the Australian market that it said goes a step beyond disaster recovery.

The everRun Enterprise solution, which was developed by US-based Stratus Technologies, is claimed to offer "next-generation fault tolerance software providing companies with 99.999 percent system uptime, zero failover time, and no data loss".

Providence Solutions Australia managing director Atul Thapar said: "While other availability solutions focus on disaster recovery times and backup procedures, everRun Enterprise prevents downtime from occurring for critical infrastructure and applications rather than merely recovering from it – a difference that can have a significant impact on revenues, product and service delivery, customer satisfaction and brand reputation."

Stratus bills the technology as the first product in "an emerging category called software-defined availability".

Mike Fyson, regional director, ANZ, at Stratus Technologies, said: "Stratus is leveraging its 30-plus years experience with hardware uptime to facilitate the same levels of availability to virtual workloads on commodity servers. The new everRun product allows us to address a broader market for availability and will form part our cloud solution."
