Dimension Data exec joins Telstra-backed startup accelerator

Dimension Data connectivity practice manager Stefan Knight announced he has left the company to join Telstra-backed startup accelerator muru-D.

Knight made the announcement via a post on LinkedIn Pulse in which he said he had mixed feelings about his departure.

"It's not 'you' DiData, it's 'me'. I'm heading to muru-D to organise their community networks, investors and mentors," said Knight.

"Sadly I won't get to work with the amazing people at DiData day in and day out but happily I am going to fulfil what I view as my life's calling."

A Dimension Data spokesperson told CRN: "We can confirm that Stefan has left Dimension Data and wish him well in his future endeavours."

Knight wrote of his previous experience working in startups such as Virata, CopperCom and Entrisphere and how these experiences had molded him into an "entrepreneurial-startup-person".

He said he believes in muru-D's program and that he "can make a difference".

Knight started in 1995 at semiconductors vendor Virata in San Francisco, USA. He worked for several technology companies in the USA and Canada before joining Dimension Data Australia in July 2012. Knight was the connectivity practice manager there for four years.

He has also been a mentor in several projects including the building of apps and marketing tools.

Muru-D is a Sydney-headquartered global startup accelerator that provides acceleration services, investment to technology startups and mentoring.

In June, group general manager for security Neil Campbell left Dimension Data to join Telstra.
