Dimension Data Australia's former education arm has changed hands once again after being acquired by publicly-listed investment Arowana International for $4.7 million.
DDLS (formerly Dimension Data Learning Solutions) offers information and communications technology training with industry certified courses for Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, CompTIA, PMI and VMware competencies. The business was founded in 1987 and has 85 employees and 150 contract trainers across six campuses in Australia.
The company also boasts clients like the Department of Defence, Australian Federal Police, CSIRO, ATO, Telstra, ANZ Bank, Commonwealth Bank and Boeing. DDLS had a separate vendor management team to Dimension Data Australia, and was even recognised with a learning award at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner of the Year Awards in 2016.
Dimension Data sold the education business to the Australian College of Training and Employment Group last year for an undisclosed amounted. A Dimension Data spokesperson told CRN at the time that the company wanted to focus solely on business and technology consulting services and that DDLS was strong enough to operate in its own right.
New owner Arowana said it plans to form a new education business with DDLS by merging the business unit with its existing building and construction training business to form a new business, EdventureCo.
Arowana said that it has an average three-year revenue of $37.1 million and an EBITDA of $2 million.
"The focus of the [Arowana] and EdventureCo team is now to on-board and integrate DDLS with EdventureCo, underpinned by the introduction of an operating platform comprising common enterprise systems, processes and protocols as appropriate, and to take advantage of the significant scope for operational engineering and optimisation," said Arowana company secretary Tom Bloomfield.
