Blue Care, an agency of UnitingCare Queensland, employs over 9800 staff and consists of more than 260 care centres across Queensland and northern New South Wales.
The five-year managed services contract, signed in November 2008, combines both ongoing support for Blue Care’s existing IT infrastructure, as well as the requirement to identify opportunities and establish a program of works for
IT service level over the next two to three years.
The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
Greg Masters, chief operating officer, Blue Care said it selected Dimension Data as its services partner after a rigorous evaluation and selection process.
He claimed as Blue Care transforms from its current "local-based" application environment to a new enterprise environment, the organisation had a requirement for a different suite of skills and expertise to what it currently has available in-house.
"Over the next three years, Blue Care’s ability to execute our strategic objectives as well as identify and exploit competitive advantages is dependent upon further investment and development of core capabilities,” said Masters.
“Part of this capability is the establishment and operation of core systems that support the objectives of our business at an enterprise level, with single applications rolled out organisation-wide.
"Technology is an enabler of business outcomes and as Blue Care’s dependency on technology increases, we must ensure that we can continue to provide the service levels required to support our front-line service delivery."
Steve Nola, Australian CEO at DiData said the first of these organisation-wide applications expected to be implemented is Procura’s Health Management System.
It will provide a common information system for care and service management and is expected to lead to greater efficiency of service delivery, he said.
