She will focus on identifying and responding to opportunities in Queensland whilst account director for its contract with the Department of Education, Training and the Arts (DETA).
"With the current economic outlook, I was drawn to 3Com as a company that offers customers tremendous value for their networking dollar," said Hughes.
"This new role will give me the chance to help our existing customers receive more value from their IT budgets while expanding 3Com's footprint in the state."
Grant Howe, 3Com country manager A/NZ said Hughes' 20 years of experience in the Queensland IT market will be a major asset to the company.
Prior to 3Com, Hughes spent two years as an account director for Dimension Data where she focused on assisting in Queensland's 'whole of government' strategy.
Prior to this, she spent two years as the general manager for Internet services at the University of Queensland and 11 years at AAPT as Queensland state manager.
