Dell is highlighting a new line of systems and services designed to help companies cut down on energy consumption.
The company said that at least 20 of its enterprise desktop, notebook and client computers met with the latest Energy Star offerings, and all consumed fewer than 5 watts of energy while operating in low power mode. Dell also said that two of its OptiPlex server systems met with the Energy Star qualifications as well.
In addition to low-power systems, the company is also pushing a new line of business services which aim to help enterprises monitor and reduce energy consumption. Dell is offering an Energy Savings Calculator service to estimate energy usage in various locations as well as a flexible computing programme which helps companies adopted low-per virtualization platforms.
"Part of Dell’s commitment to the environment is providing customers with computer systems that make a minimal impact on the planet," said Dell sustainability director Tod Arbogast, director of Sustainability at Dell.
"These energy-efficient products help customers lower their energy costs and help achieve our broader goal of protecting the environment."
The company hopes that the push can bring companies back to green computing, both as a citizenship move and money-saving initiative. A recent report found that many companies have set their green computing programmes by the wayside while attempting to navigate the current economic crisis.
